Allow me to introduce myself, I am Susan L. (Sue) Doylen, a 29 year resident of Estes Park.  I'm a wife, mother of two young women who were born, raised and educated in Estes Park, downtown business owner, property owner and have served the community in various roles for the past 16 years.  My family's relationship with, and investment in, the community dates to 1958.

A graduate of University of Northern Colorado, I have a degree in Fine Arts Education.  My husband Dan and I started Master Graphics Printing/Master Shipping, Inc., in 1984.  Business has afforded me the opportunity to meet, exchange and share ideas with community members engaged in both working and volunteer activities, long-time and new residents, old and young, comfortable and struggling--all people who make our community a diverse and wonderful place.

Among my many civic roles, I have served the community as a Planning Commission Member, Town Trustee (serving as chair of Community Development, Public Works, Special Events, Board of Adjustment and member of Public Safety and numerous task forces and committees) 1993-2006, Mayor Pro-Tem 1996-2006, Housing Authority Vice President 1995-2000, Housing Authority Chairman 2001-2005, Chair of the Convention and Visitors Bureau Policy Advisory Committee 2004-Present.  Additionally, I have served as liaison to both the Museum and the Rodeo Committee and am currently a member of the Tree Board.  My volunteer roles in the community include Habitat for Humanity Estes Valley and Sister Cities Association.

My leisure time pursuits include an occasional good book, creative fiberwork, and home.

Larry Pesses

My wife, Patti, and I arrived in Estes Park in the fall of 1988 after having spent the better part of two years traveling the county in our motor home.  In 1989 we were married at the Black Canyon Inn, and our son, Kip, was born in 1993.  While Kip was preparing for kindergarten, I was appointed to the Chamber Music Society Board and joined the noon Rotary Club.  In 1999, when Kip started school, I became a thrice weekly volunteer in the school, focusing primarily on tutoring reading in the Elementary School.  In 2001, I unsuccessfully ran for the Board of Education, but was later appointed to fill a vacancy which occurred as a result of a resignation in 2002.  The following year I won a seat on the Board, was elected president, and served in that capacity for four years.  I am also one of the founding members of the Estes Valley Education Foundation.

During my tenure on the board, years of embezzlement were stopped and financial transparency and integrity were returned to district operations.  Focus was returned to educating our kids, and student achievement and test scores reached unprecedented levels.  Our state composite scores in reading, writing and math reached their highest levels in recent memory and school ratings reached or exceeded the top 20% in the state.  In addition, long overdue campus-wide renovations were initiated, and staff salaries were increased and made gender-equitable.

Patti and I have owned and operated Stonestreet Marketing Services, Inc., for over twenty years.  Stonestreet specializes in the sales of apparel, promotional wine accessories and advertising specialties to the major corporate and boutique wineries in the Napa and Sonoma valleys of California.

We enjoy hiking, biking (both motor and otherwise), and spending time with our son and dogs.

Bill Pinkham

Bill grew up on a farm in Massachusetts and graduated from Amherst College with a BA in Economics.  Following three years as an officer in the Air Force, he took a job in fine paper sales with a small manufacturer that was acquired by Weyerhaeuser.

Bill retired from Weyerhaeuser after a 40-year career that included fine paper sales, marketing and strategic planning.  Prior to retirement as Manager of Planning and Analysis, his responsibilities also included marketing communications, technical services, and the recruiting, hiring and training of sales and marketing personnel.  He was also a member of the corporate marketing committee and new products development team.

Bill and Sue's love of the mountains and nature brought them permanently to Estes Park in 2000 after vacationing here for several years; and both rapidly became involved in the community.

His community involvement includes:  Estes Valley Land Trust, EP Rotary Club, EP Chorale, RMNP Environmental Educational Dept., Larimer County Parks & Open Lands Naturalist, Art Center of Estes Park and Crossroads.

Bill's strengths include extensive leadership and supervisory experience, team building, analytical concepts and processes, and working effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and interests.  He is a trained facilitator who believes in win-win solutions to community and business problems, and is accustomed to working with teams to achieve superior results.

Bill was elected Trustee of the Town of Estes Park in 2004 and is currently Mayor Pro Tem.  He is Chairman of both the Community Development Committee and the Audit Committee, and is a member of the Utilities Committee.  He facilitated the 2017 Team development of the Economic Sustainability Vision and Recommendations adopted by the Town Board.  Bill is also currently on the boards of the Estes Park Housing Authority, Larimer County Open Lands, and the Estes Valley Land Trust.

           Candidates for Town Trustee

A.W. (Art) Blume

I am a candidate for Estes Park Board of Trustees.  My decision is based upon my desire to give back to my new home town my experience and stewardship of its government for the good of all citizens now and in the future.  I am not a single issue candidate and believe in positive communication between all parties to an issue.

I hold undergraduate and graduate degrees from Drury University.  My major areas of study were Psychology, Speech and Drama, and Educational Psychology.

I have lived and worked in large metro areas as well as Springfield, Missouri.  I spent over 22 years in corporate management both in the public and private sectors.  I have managed in both union and non-union environments.  I spent some parallel time in education serving as a supply instructor for 17 years at Missouri State University.  My corporate positions included District Sales Manager, Director of Personnel and Training, VP Operations (COO), and Director of Customer Services at a public utility.  I have also owned two businesses and am now semi-retired.

I have been involved heavily in civic affairs most of my life.  I am or have been a member of Rotary, Kiwanis, community theater groups, choirs, Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, and professional societies in job interest area.  I served on the Personnel Board, City of Springfield and as an elected City Councilman of Springfield, Missouri.

I served 23 years active/reserve in the US Navy and retired as a Commander (Line).  During my Navy career I held five Commands.

In Estes Park I am involved in civic/community activities i.e., Senior Center, several Newcomer's groups, and several singing groups.  I graduated from the 2007 Citizen's Information Academy, and the Citizen's Police Academy.  I am a member of Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge, American Legion, and volunteer at RMNP.

My wife, Patricia, is a native of Iowa and a graduate of the University of Iowa.  Pat also is very active in numerous civic/community activities.

Patrick Cipolla

We have lived in Colorado for the last 30 years.  In 1991 we bought our home in Estes Park.  I retired from active duty Air Force after 21 years as the 1st Sergeant of the Space Command at Buckley Air Base.  I also work for the Department of Defense as a Computer Systems Accountant.  I have also attended various colleges and universities at night throughout my career majoring in business and accounting.  I spent many years in the Air Force in Accounting and Budgeting!

I am married to my wife Shelley for over 30 years.  She has four children and I had four children.  Since permanently retiring in February 1996, both of us have spent our time volunteering throughout the community.  Currently I cashier helping the Hospital at the Elizabeth Guild; also am Treasurer/Secretary for the Lake Estes Men's Golf Club; also cook for the Senior Center Breakfast fundraisers.  Have also volunteered at Crossroads, Meals-on-Wheels, Caring Pregnancy Center, raised money for our Senior Center building.

I am most concerned about the direction our town is going.  There is a major disconnect between the Town and the people concerning our development and zoning codes; major disconnect in other areas which I will speak about at our forums.  We need new leadership not only on the Town Board but at key positions within the government.
