Betty Kilsdonk, Director
Betty Kilsdonk has been the Director of the Estes Park Museum, Estes Park, Colorado since 1993.
She also oversees the Estes Park Senior Center and coordinates historic
preservation projects. She has an M.A. from the University of California, Santa
Barbara, 1984 in Public Historical Studies. Betty is a department head for
the Town of Estes Park.
Prior to coming to our museum, she worked as the museum director for the Grand County
Historical Association in Hot Sulphur Springs, Colorado, and for the State Historical
Society of Wisconsin, Historic Sites Division, as a project historian.

Derek Fortini, Curator of Collections and Exhibits
Derek Fortini joined the
Museum staff in December, 2006 as Curator of Collections and Exhibits.
Derek has completed coursework for an M.A. in Art History with a Museum
Studies emphasis at the University of Denver. His work experience
includes the Laboratory of Art & Ideas in Lakewood and the Denver Art
Museum. His responsibilities include collections management activities
such as cataloging and preserving artifacts; preparing exhibits; and
preparing interpretive materials.

Kate Miller,
Curator of Education
Kate Miller
joined
the Museum staff in January, 2007 as Curator of Education. Kate was the
Field Seminars Director for the Rocky Mountain Nature Association at Rocky
Mountain National Park for more than 4 years before returning to the
University of Missouri to obtain her M.S. degree in Natural Resources
Recreation Management. She also has several years experience as a
Naturalist, designing and presenting interpretive programs. Kate’s
responsibilities include public and school programs, publicity, community
outreach, and overseeing the historic Fall River
Hydroplant site.

Elaine Hunt Downey, Friends Assistant
Elaine
graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1974, majoring in sociology
and psychology. She spent most of her career in retail management, with 15
of those years managing off-price clothing stores. She has also worked as
an office manager and a supervisor with a telecommunications company. You
may also find Elaine making lattes at Starbucks in town. Elaine has been
visiting Estes Park for over 30 years. She and her daughter moved to Estes
Park from Littleton in 2002.
