"Wildfires in Colorado are a natural part of our ecosystems and help restore and maintain healthy forests." Colorado State Forest Service. See http://csfs.colostate.edu/wildfire.htm

For local emergency information, see http://www.larimer.org/emergency/

For details on Rocky Mountain wildfires,  The Rocky Mountain Area Coordination Center at http://gacc.nifc.gov/rmcc/ has up-to-date information on conditions in Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas.

For information on wildfires across the nation and links to incident web pages as they develop, check http://www.nifc.gov/fire_info/nfn.htm. There are several other wildfire resources linked to this page.

A national wildfire map is also useful to have for geographical perspective. Another very helpful resource is this NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) event imagery ... best when the appropriate image has been selected. Note that your "back" button will not return you to this page, so you may want to bookmark this page before you leave.

Also available from NOAA is this "hot spot" and "smoke plume" viewer: http://www.firedetect.noaa.gov/viewer.htm

Then NOAA also predicts duration of smoke plumes http://www.weather.gov/aq/sectors/conusLoop.php

Postings to this page may not be made over weekends.

This web page is being maintained by staff of the Town of Estes Park and the Estes Park Convention & Visitors Bureau.
