The Story of the failure of the Lawn
Lake Dam
Steve Gillette, with A-1 Trash at the time (Mr. Gillette is a past and current
Trustee of the Town of Estes Park) was on an unusually early trash pick up at
the Lawn Lake trailhead parking lot in Rocky Mountain National Park. He heard
the noise, saw the water, and immediately (6:23 a.m.) called Park headquarters
to warn them of what he was sure was the result of failure of the Lawn Lake Dam ii.
